I love how each of them are different with their styles through each of these challenges. Like I would go for Noz when I was building something in my early 20’s and wanted something fun and spunky….Joy’s when I would want something that a family could use….and Darren’s style for when I open a brothel/club. Haha!
Darren’s space is chef’s kiss! I love bringing oriental touches into my own space because it’s my background. However, Joy’s space is the most approachable. Though I appreciate that the designers could do anything they wanted to the renderings, I know from renovating my own condo, I appreciated how joy worked with the given layout and architectural materials. As a client redoing these things cost $$$ and I like when designers save as much as they can from a sustainability perspective.

I’m definitely the outlier here, I appreciate Darren’s artistic ability but it is not my style at all. It feels very heavy to me and gives off a very ostentatious vibe like it belong to some horribly out of touch tech billionaire originally from Vegas trying to impress his east coast finance billionaire buddies. That’s great if it’s your style but it’s definitely not mine. Noz’s is so fun and colorful and I would absolutely love it if those window treatments were movable like shades and her furniture choices feel very much like a loft in the clouds. Joy’s I think is the most livable in terms of overall design and functionality. All 3 are really awesome and thoughtful renditions of the same originally bland space.
Noz was the BEST so Cozy and inviting and dream-like. Darren’s was cool too, very sleek and luxurious wow.
I initially thought Darren’s ideas were going to be my least favourite because his ideas were so loud & gaudy. But in the end, it’s my favourite. The layout & low profile nature of the furniture allows the space feel way more open compared to the other 2. To me, less is ALWAYS more. Also, though I’m not big on a loud colour pallet, his choices really work. Plus, I totally agree with his take on lighting. It looks like a super comfy space.

Darren can design whatever house he wants, it’s always so beautiful. I never consider furniture he suggest if it was suggested by another designer. He has a way of creating spaces.
