Excellent advice, as always. I love your emphasis on lighting, it’s really important especially in bedrooms. I’m also a fan of texture, natural materials like organic cotton and linen, and soft neutrals. You didn’t mention black as a good bedroom neutral, but you did show a nice black feature wall. My future fantasy bedroom 😉 will have black paint and wood slat accents. Hopefully also gorgeous earthy marble or granite around a modern fireplace. The images you present are fantastic! They definitely inspire thoughtfulness about design. 🙏Thank you!

The same way we use color to trick the mind when creating smaller/larger spaces, I think SYMMETRY tricks the mind that you are in a balanced space. Without it, I feel your eye as well as your mind is searching for a place to land in order to feel balanced. 🌸

👍🤣🤣 Nice advice but as we just hit our 40s, and if you have grandkids then that cycle of life with hot flashes from nowhere. We tried a queen size, nope, notta, forget it I’m not getting smothered, kicked, accidentally kicked out of my bed by tossers. Went California King mattress and box spring made by them up in the Dakota’s, the main thing in the space is the bed itself and how wonderful it feels to fall asleep a great mattress is the main point of a bedroom in my opinion. I’m never going back to smaller or whatever because of space, our bedroom is for relaxing and sleeping only, no electronics, we have a master bathroom, it’s rise in morning, give thanks for waking up, make bed, shower all that, then to the kitchen for a cuppa.

I like matching furniture, it’s very european whereas asymmetrical furniture tends to be more of a commonwealth thing. Both look good if done well and sometimes a property isn’t big enough to accommodate symmetrical things matching so other furniture has to be used.
